"...instead of being forced to use software to access your email, your allowed the freedom of accessing your email however you want."

So what is "cloud email"? It's simple; instead of being forced to use software to access your email, your allowed the freedom of accessing your email however you want. Most people have used cloud email in one form of another. Some of the biggest names in cloud email are Hotmail, AOL, Yahoo, etc. But the power of cloud email goes beyond simply being able to check your email from the web. That's why Google's Gmail is our ace-in-the-hole.

Say No To Outlook, Yes To Freedom

Without boring you to death, email 1.0 was about using software to "fetch" all of your email from a server. Your software would "move" all of your email from it's safe and secure location; the server, and move it to a completely unsafe and insecure location; your computer. Only one email program (either work or home, but not both) could access your email without getting duplicate email messages (or you'd have to read / delete the same message on each computer). The only location your email existed on was on your computer and it was your responsibility to backup, archive and manage your email. You had to use an anti-virus scanner to scan every email that came into your computer.

"With email 2.0, your email exists and lives in the cloud."

Email 2.0 doesn't mess around with any of that junk and neither should you. With email 2.0, your email exists and lives in the cloud. Accessing your email from your browser is far better than any email program. Your "email program" actually lives on the web, so any settings or changes you make (change a theme, add new features, etc) are accessible from the web. Because your email lives in the cloud, when you read a message on your mobile phone, that message is marked as read when you check it from your computer. Your email never expires or gets deleted after time. The cloud is your virus scanner: every message is scanned automatically so the only thing your concerned with is reading your email.

More Than Just A Pretty Face

Simplicity, ease of use, intuitive user interface; but there's more going on behind the scenes. Gone are the days of trying to find the best and most up-to-date email software; your software exists in the cloud and is constantly updated with you having to lift a finger. Software patches, security holes, database mismatches, operating system versions... none of that matters with email 2.0. It just works.

Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam

Here's something to sink your teeth into... 97% of all emails sent are spam according to a Microsoft security report. Sad, huh? But with Gmail, spam's not a problem. Gmail users rarely get spam, but when one of us does, when we report it, that message is then flagged for millions of other Gmail users so they don't get the spam message. And just as important, making sure real messages don't get marked as spam. Our buds at Google are going to break it down...

Enterprise Tested, Mother Approved

To give you an idea of the power of Gmail, governments, universities and mega-corporations use Google Apps for their enterprise solutions and Gmail is at the core of it all. Not some special, super-enterprise version, but the same version of Gmail that home users use (just configured to be more integrated and complex with Google Apps). Check out twitter.com/googleatwork to get an idea of the organizations using Google Apps. One of the most recognized local organizations using Google Apps (and Gmail) is the University of South Florida (USF) in Tampa, Fl.

"Gmail is powerful enough for the enterprise, yet so simplistic and initiative that a working mother of four can jump right into her email..."

The reason why I'm telling you this is to show you the power of Gmail. Gmail is powerful enough for the enterprise, yet so simplistic and initiative that a working mother of four can jump right into her email and get what she needs taken care of. No hassle, no mess.

Smartphone Luv

Did you know that Google's Gmail plays nice with others? It's true. Just ask Microsoft or Apple. Gmail works with something called Microsoft Exchange to bring you "push email", where you'll get a notification to your smartphone (such as Apple's iPhone) that you have new email instantly the moment it's received. Not only that, but all of your email contacts are synced in with your phone's address book, as well as being integrated into your phone's calendar. Talk about smartphone luv.

Cult Phenomenon

When's the last time you got excited about your email? No, I mean really excited? That's what happens when you have a great email 2.0 client, such as Gmail. In fact, Gmail is so far above and beyond other email it's actually started a cult phenomenon. I'm not exaggerating.

Ask yourself this; what's so special about Gmail? I can't describe all the different things that makes Gmail so special, but take a look at this. Gmail would have to be something special to form a compilation from people in more than 65 different countries showing their appreciation for Gmail.
